The Pit Orchestra is an advanced ensemble that selects its members through an application process. This ensemble instrumentation varies depending on the musical, but is generally made up of flutes, clarinets, double reeds (oboe/bassoon), french horns, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, baritone, tuba, and a rhythm section (guitar, piano, bass, and drum-set). The Pit Orchestra meets outside of the school day for all rehearsals. This group performs in collaboration with the vocal music department and the theatre department for the spring musical.
